Effective September 15, 2026. Quit: Smoke-Free Tracker ("Quit") is made by Zelig, LLC.
Short version: Quit has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your data lives on your phone and in Apple's iCloud, and only so the app works.
What Quit stores on your phone
- Your profile: display name (optional), quit date, cigarettes per day, pack price, cigarettes per pack, slip count, cravings beaten, and your six-character pair code.
- A cached copy of your buddy's profile and the messages they've sent you.
This stays in Quit's private storage, shared only with Quit's own widgets.
What is synced to iCloud
Quit uses Apple's CloudKit public database (container iCloud.com.zelig.quit) for the buddy feature:
- Your profile record: display name, quit date, cigarettes per day, pack price, cigarettes per pack, slip count, cravings beaten, pair code, and when it was last updated.
- Messages you send your buddy: the preset message text (or an automatic slip, SOS or link alert), your display name, your pair code, your buddy's pair code, and the time.
Who can see it: anyone who has your pair code can read your profile record. That's how pairing works. Only share your code with people you want to see your progress.
Apple handles iCloud sign-in. We never see your Apple ID, email address or iCloud credentials.
Notifications
Daily reminders and milestone alerts are scheduled on your phone. Buddy alerts are delivered by Apple's push notification service through CloudKit.
What we don't do
- No advertising, analytics or third-party SDKs.
- No tracking across apps or websites.
- We don't sell or share your data, or use it for anything except running the app.
Deleting your data
- Settings → Reset everything erases Quit's data on your phone and deletes your profile record from iCloud.
